Hours: 36 per week
Housing Property is a large multi skilled service responsible for the planning and delivery of all capital works, maintenance and repairs to the 20,000 Council homes across the City of Edinburgh. Housing Property manage a budget of around £60m and carry out over 100,000 responsive repairs on an annual basis. Housing Property carry out 1500 kitchen and bathroom upgrades each year along with central heating systems, window and doors upgrades and large external fabric upgrades. Housing Property are also responsible for the delivery of the Energy Efficiency Standards for Social Housing by 2020 which will provide excellent quality and energy efficient homes for our tenants.
The Building Surveying section are key to the preperation of tender/contract documentation in addition to preparing CDM documents including Pre Construction Heath and Safety Plans.
This section also holds the expertise to prepare performance specifications for several areas within the Capital Programme.
The Building Surveyors undertake regular site inspections to manage subcontractor performance and ensure excellent quality of works for the tenants of The City of Edinburgh Council. They also carry out home visits to allow Council tenants and private owners have adaptations carried out which in many cases allows people to remain in their homes or return to their homes from medical care.
We would be particularly interested in candidates who command knowledge and experience within a Mechanical and Electrical Environment and who could offer guidance and support in preparing contracts centred around the modernisation and replacement of mechanical and electrical assets.

The role has a diverse range of responsibility and has a good balance of project management, CDM, contract preperation/management and site inspections requirements on a Capital Programme, delivering around £30m annually which directly benefits the tenants of The City of Edinburgh Council.

MRICS or equivalent membership.
Relevant professional qualification.
Housing experience welcomed.
Local Government experience welcomed.
Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range. For roles in grade 5 or above, annual increments in our contribution zones are dependent on achieving agreed performance goals.
